Before We Get Started

Before jumping into my thoughts, I want to give a huge thank you to Take IT Studio! for providing me with a review copy of Before Exit: Gas Station.

As always, receiving a key does not influence my thoughts or opinions — this review reflects my genuine experience with the game.

After playing Before Exit: Supermarket, I was genuinely excited to jump back into the series and see what the next setting would bring. Since Supermarket ended up surprising me once everything finally clicked, I was curious to see how the formula would evolve in a completely different setting.

Turns out?

The anomalies were definitely not done with me yet.

What Is Before Exit: Gas Station?

Before Exit: Gas Station is the next entry in the Before Exit anomaly series from Take IT Studio!, this time moving players from a supermarket to a lonely gas station in the middle of nowhere.

Players take on the role of a gas station employee responsible for closing up at the end of the night. Tasks include turning off lights, cleaning the workplace, checking refrigerators, helping any remaining customers, and making sure everything is properly shut down before finally heading home.

Of course, things are not quite as normal as they seem.

While completing nightly tasks, players must also search for anomalies — strange environmental changes, misplaced objects, or subtle details that feel out of place. Some are obvious, while others are subtle enough to leave players wondering if something actually changed at all.

The game expands on the formula introduced in Before Exit: Supermarket with 40+ scenarios, multiple endings, bonus episodes, and a stronger story focus that slowly reveals more about the station and the mystery surrounding it.

First Impressions

Going into Before Exit: Gas Station, I already had a much better understanding of the gameplay loop thanks to my time with Before Exit: Supermarket, and that made a huge difference right away.

One of my biggest struggles with Supermarket was figuring out exactly what the game wanted from me in the beginning. There was not much explanation, and it took me a while before everything finally clicked and I fully understood what the game expected from me.

This time around, things felt much smoother.

Because I already understood the formula, I found myself paying attention to details much faster instead of spending time trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. That familiarity helped me settle into the gameplay quickly and allowed me to focus on what the game does best — second guessing everything around me.

And trust me, that feeling came back fast.

There were several moments where I found myself stopping mid-task wondering:

“Wait… was that always there?”

That constant uncertainty is still one of the strongest parts of the Before Exit formula. The game does a great job of making players question even the smallest details, which makes spotting anomalies feel rewarding when you finally notice something strange.

Story, Replayability & Multiple Endings

One of the biggest things that stood out to me this time around was the stronger story focus.

Where Before Exit: Supermarket felt more centered around the gameplay loop itself, Gas Station introduces a larger mystery that slowly unfolds the more you play. Between the suspicious owner, strange atmosphere, and gradually revealed story elements, I found myself genuinely wanting to know what was actually happening behind the scenes.

The base game includes 40+ scenarios, and for someone like me who enjoys uncovering secrets in games, this ended up being one of my favorite additions.

But the biggest standout for me?

The multiple endings.

There are four different endings to uncover, and the moment I realized that, I immediately became determined to find them. As someone who loves ending hunting in games, this added a huge amount of replay value because every run felt like there was still something left to uncover.

I have played quite a few anomaly games at this point, and not many offer multiple endings to work toward. That alone helped Before Exit: Gas Station stand apart from many others in the genre because replaying scenarios felt rewarding rather than repetitive.

Every new scenario felt like another piece of the puzzle, and that constant feeling of “there is still more to uncover” kept me invested far longer than I expected.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Before Exit: Gas Station feels like a major evolution of the formula introduced in Before Exit: Supermarket.

The stronger story, replayability, multiple endings, and deeper mystery kept me far more invested from beginning to end. While I enjoyed Supermarket, Gas Station feels more confident in what it wants to be and gives players more reasons to keep coming back.

For me, the biggest standout had to be the replay value. As someone who loves ending hunting in games, having multiple endings to discover gave me a reason to replay scenarios, pay closer attention to details, and continue piecing together the mystery surrounding the station.

If you enjoy anomaly games, replayability, mystery, or a little spooky weirdness mixed into everyday jobs, Before Exit: Gas Station is absolutely worth checking out.

I had a great time with it and found myself far more invested in uncovering the truth behind the station than I originally expected.
